John Boswell

Education Bailey boys school 1968 to 1971 left school at 14 attended Fleetwood Nautical College for 6 months, passed deckhand learner certificate October 1971. Passed sea survival, first aid at sea, and fire fighting course Liverpool Marine Office 1973, 1980 to 1982 attended Fleetwood Nautical College part one 1st mate foreign going, passed signals, navigation, orals, class2 first aid at sea.

Hockey Became involved with inline hockey as a club helper with Morecambe Bay Pirates in 1994. 1997/98 became under14 and 12 team coach. First year under14's won the league and playoffs and 2nd in the league at under12's. 1998/99 started up anew club with Canadian hockey player and coach David Anthony. The club was Blackpool Raiders were David and myself coached at all different age groups from un10 to senior. Since that time we have won leagues, National Championships, European Championships played and won tournaments from Canada, France, Hong Kong and all over Europe. In 1990/2000 season Blackpool Raiders was voted the most successful club ever in the United Kingdom after winning the leagues and National Championship in every age group from under 10 to senior except under 18 were they lost the league to Blackley Sharks, and the National Championships to Durham Destroyers. In 2009 the club we started and developed is still going to this day and still committed to the development of the future of inline hockey as it has ever been.

 

David Anthony

D.O.B. 07/09/1960

Education in hockey Dad was a semi prpffesional netminder in Toronto, Canada playing with no mask. I started to learn to play age 4 by my dad who went on to start up an outdoor league in our local town. Attended the famous Bobby Orr's hockey school for 4 years in a row with cousins Danny and Kevin Oshea who played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Nprth Stars and St Louis Blues. I have a level 1 coaching certificate in both ice hockey and roller hockey, and is sorting out government backing for level 2 and level 3 in roller hockey.

1976-1980 Played junior C for 4 years at Essex 73's who where a record breaking team for the first year when we went 65 games unbeaten and lost game game 4 of the finals of all Ontario, Canada. I played every position including netminder when both goalies where injured and in the final year was the leagues leading goal and points scorer which set a league record which hasnt been beaten to this day.

1981-1984 For the first 3 years played in the adults league winning the championship for each team in each of the 3 years, then in the 4th year he came over to England.

Pro ice hockey player and coachFirst team played for in England was the Blackpool Seagulls in 1984 where i was top scorer for 5 years. In my proffessional career i also played for Glasgow Eagles, Solihul Barons and Blackburn Hawks wher i won various trophies for scoring M.V.p and league scorer.

Player/coach roller hockey In 1998 till now started Blackpool Raiders with John Boswell and coached all age groups to either first or second in the league. The team either finished in the finals or semi finals at the end of season Nationals. Captained IIHF GB senior team from 1998-02, and also coached the same team from 1999-02 finishing there best ever position in 6th place. I still play and coach in the senior leagues in Sheffield for the Blackpool Raiders.
